An adventurous trip to Majestic Dodital Lake, Uttarkashi had been initiated by Rabindranath World School for their students of class 9th to 12th. We, The Rabindranath World School family strongly feel that the very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

It’s a home for Himalayan trout. Dodital trek, (3310 m) is one of the most beautiful lakes in Uttarakhand attracting many trekkers from around the world. It is named after Trout called ‘Dodi’ in the local language and these Dodi reside right here in the lake.

Along with this, the place holds a special belief among people as it is considered the holy birthplace of the Hindu god, Lord Ganesha. Hindu mythology says Dodital is also known as “Dhundital” meaning ‘Ganesh ka Tal’ or ‘Lake of Ganesha’. It has been said that Lord Ganesha chose this Lake as his abode.
The trip was organised by the school under the guidance of Vice Chairman, Mr. Gaurav Tomar. The places we visited include Mussoorie, Agoda, Dodital Lake and Darwa Top. The students had to trek for around 25kms to reach Darwa Top, which is at an altitude of 13,500 ft. and the views from there were breathtaking. The nature treks provided students with an opportunity to admire the vivid vistas that are unique to the state and the autumn season. Students spotted wildlife fauna, including, white-headed langurs, Himalayan red fox, golden and black trout, mountain hawk-eagle, and a lot of different birds. The students were evoked by the wonders of the environment and returned with memories of beautiful birds, lush green trees, and rolling hills. Many took time to appreciate the delicate beauty of the forest’s wildflowers while others observed the insects around.
Here we had the sheer opportunity to visit a temple of Lord Ganesha near the lake and here people believe in worshiping power. Most people attempt this trek in April-June or September-November, but winter adds a magical feather to this trek’s already beautiful cap. As our school planned to visit this place with students, so it was better for us to visit just next before the winter. Dodital encased amidst the benedictory pines is a freshwater lake of Uttarakhand. Dodital Lake nestled amidst the dense woodland and meandering meadows offer heart-melting trekking and we, all the students and teachers with the guides had collected this heart throbbing trekking experience with fun and lots of adventures. The trek en route to Dodital is through verdant forests offering spellbinding views of the munificence nature. It’s a popular trek among the adventure enthusiasts like our School had.
Educational trips and outdoor learning can be a massive benefit to the students. Aside from the obvious breath of fresh air, the students will benefit from being outside; it gives students time to breathe! As stress and anxiety rates amongst students are on the rise, there has never been a better time to tackle them, both inside and outside of the classroom.
It was a very wholesome learning experience where students got to know about their strengths, their weaknesses, the beauty of nature, and the value of all the resources that they get very easily at their places. Apart from Mr. Gaurav Tomar, other teachers were also present with the students who played a very vital role in the success of the trip
