RWS, MUN- 2014
Rabindranath World School, Gurgaon organised RWS MUN-14 in the school on 27th & 28th August, 2014. The session commenced by the lighting up of the lamp followed by the opening address by the Principal, Dr. Kiran R Banerji. She emphasized on the importance of MUN sessions and also motivated the delegates by her inspiring speech.  The session held over the course of two days had delegates deliberate and come up with effective resolutions in collaboration with fellow delegates on the sensitive issues of Ban on Animal Testing and Role of Youth in Peace Keeping. The young students representing various countries came up with very effective suggestions.

The MUN saw active participation from the students. Several related sensitive issues were also debated in the General Assembly.

The Principle of MUN is to organise simulation of the UN General Assembly, in the format of the UN procedures and formalities. The guiding idea is allow students to experience multilateral negotiations and become acquainted with the process which members of the UN utilize in order to achieve resolutions to various problems. The assembly indeed motivated the delegates to reach their full potential during the course of the session.

The MUNites were successful in passing the resolution which effectively tackled the problems. Open forum witnessed heated debates by the members on the topic Is Grading System Effective for our Education System.

            The two days of MUN gave our students an overview of the advantages of being an MUNite. The skills included leadership qualities, participatory skills, Global perspectives, Negotiating skills, Problem solving approach, Debating skills, Presentation skills etc.

New delegates developed a better sense of the debating processes and the skills required to argue a case persuasively. Delegates of Afghanistan, India and China came up as excellent speakers and debators during Caucuses and open forum.

Apart from serious moments, there were a lot of fun filled moments too. The 2 days of rich experience culminated with the closing ceremony. A group of senior students presented a foot tapping song. The Principal appreciated the efforts and active participation of the MUNites. She thanked the teachers individually for their effort in training the students. One of MUNites shared his experience and stated that he was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to be a part of MUN and thanked the school.
